8:39 pm40 Before 40
Dreams and aspirations… and less than a decade to do it all.
(In no particular order)
1)     Get published…and no, my blog doesn’t count.
2)Â Â Â Â Â Visit Hawaii (with my family)
3)Â Â Â Â Â Visit Alaska (with my family)
4)Â Â Â Â Â Do a Book of Mormon history tour (S. America) with Jon
5)Â Â Â Â Â Hike (a substantial part of) the Appalachian Trail

8 )Â Â Â Â Â Learn Spanish
9)Â Â Â Â Â Finish my novel
10)Â Get novel published
11)Â Learn to play chess
12) Learn to snorkel… and not freak out
13)Â Learn to Latin dance (in a sexy, non-dufus looking fashion)
14)Â Get into bikini-shape for at least one summer!
15)Â Be okay with all of the other summers that I am not in bikini-shape.
16)Â Â Perfect swimming strokes
17)Â Â Get CPR certification
Be confident enough to home school
19)Â Â Read the entire Chronicles of Narnia series to my kids.
20)  Have a really cool Girl’s Retreat with a few girlfriends
21)Â Â Learn to play the guitar

24)Â Â Help my children discover what they are passionate about
25)Â Â Be comfortable with public speaking
26)Â Â Learn karate
27)  Be in a ninja-butt-kickin movie (think: Mortal Kombat)…preferably opposite Jason Statham (what?? Let a girl dream!)
28)  Do the Rubic’s Cube in under 2 minutes (right now I can do 2 layers in under 3 minutes… so it’s not a complete impossibility)
29)Â Â Learn to cook well
30)  Restore a ’73 VW Beetle convertible to awesome-ness
31)Â Â Make amends with all of my rotten baggage and be at peace
32)  Learn more about investing (not that I don’t trust our money guy, Cory… but it just seems the responsible thing to do)
33)Â Â Learn all I can about botany
34)Â Â Golf in Hawaii
35)Â Â Drive a racecar on a track
36)  Skydive… in a safe-ish manner…and preferably without barfing
37)Â Â Write a song for my husband
38)Â Â Learn photography
39)Â Â See the sunrise AND sunset over the ocean…on the same day.
40) — This spot is reserved for the one thing I never knew I always wanted to do –Â I suppose I’ll know it when I do it.

OK, I know I am hogging your comments, but I want to respond to your list (I just read it after my first comment) not efficient, I know. OK, #2, 20, 22 and #36 are on my list too. About #12 it is not that bad once you calm down. #3 as a cruise I hear is the BEST way to visit Alaska. #13 is not that hard, I learned from a hot guy from Columbia. Works those hips! You could combine #20 and #23 together. If you do this in New Orleans you could practice for #7 too! I have some great connections there and they have the best Jazz festivals I hear. We should plan this. OK, these are my thoughts…..for now

Less than a decade…that’s cute. I have barely a year, but it’s cool. I feel like I should hate you, but I don’t.
You’re right, this is a fantastic idea. I have a “Life List,” which of course gives me a little more time to get my crap together. You have convinced me to post it on my blog to get people going.
It’s not something I can technically teach you, but since it’s my minor I could offer some tips for #25 anytime. About #19 - Horse and His Boy is the hardest one to get through but once you do, the rest are lots of fun. Best of luck…in your decade.
be well*

Great list, how are you doing so far?
I have a similar website dedicated to my forty things to do before 40.
See it at www.before40.co.uk
- We can do this!

I’m guess I’m not a total loser on your scale then … I’ve done several of those things before 40 but not everything before 50!

I was getting pretty edgy reading this. If I say I’m disagreeing with your post I would say nothing. Reading this is meaningless waste of time.

@OmegaSarge: Thank you for your somewhat cryptic comment.
