Not many people know about it, but it's so brilliant. I need to read it again. Apparently they're still trying to make a movie or mini-series out of it. I love, love, love that book. The Black House (the sequel) came out several years ago and I've tried to read it a couple times, but haven't been able to get through it. It's just not the same. But I've always wanted a best friend who was secretly a werewolf, and for a while I would try to slide the phrase "God pounds his nails" into conversations... it was awkward. @Stephanie- During my teen years, I read The Talisman over and over as my means of escape from a cruel step-father.
